Accepting Registrations for 25th Annual National Unemployment Insurance Issues Conference

WASHINGTON, D.C. -– UWC and its National Foundation for Unemployment and Workers’ Compensation announced today that they have begun taking registrations for the 25th annual National Unemployment Insurance Issues Conference, scheduled for May 1-3, 2006, at the Waterfront Marriott hotel in Portland, OR.

“The conference is for employers who are interested in managing the unemployment insurance (UI) program and its costs,” said UWC President Eric Oxfeld. “This event is the only national gathering of its kind that represents business interests,” he continued.

“An understanding of the unemployment insurance system will save employers a great deal of time and money,” he concluded.

Conference topics include: independent contractors, federal and state UI updates, tax saving strategies, UI technological advances, business policies on separation, employment law do’s and don’ts, a workshop for multi-state employers, and preparing for a successful UI hearing. A session on identity theft protection for employers, their employees and business is especially timely.

Registration fees include a copy of "Highlights of State Unemployment Compensation Laws" (2006 edition), education sessions and handouts, luncheon, two receptions, two breakfasts, and many networking opportunities. There is a discount if you register by March 31, 2006.
